Randall Avenue Bridge Repairs

When reports surfaced that concrete debris was falling from a bridge onto the Northeast Corridor rail line below, G&A was engaged by Bristol Township to assess conditions and develop a safe and effective path forward. For public safety, the bridge was immediately closed to motorists and pedestrians, resulting in significant detours and extended emergency response times for the Edgely section of Bristol Township.

G&A quickly mobilized a multidisciplinary team of bridge engineers, inspectors, surveyors, and grant writers to address both the immediate safety concerns and the long-term goal of restoring access. G&A project managers worked closely with Amtrak, SEPTA, PennDOT bridge inspection units, and the Pennsylvania Utility Commission to initiate design efforts under challenging constraints. At the same time, G&A’s grant writing team pursued funding opportunities, ultimately helping Bristol Township secure nearly $3M in state grant assistance. Limited work windows, restricted access, and specialized equipment were required, along with rigorous reviews and approvals by Amtrak, critical to ensuring safety was maintained throughout construction.

The abutments were reconstructed using specialized materials, and additional repairs were completed to joints, bearings, and bridge approaches allowing the bridge to be reopened in January 2026. G&A is proud to have played a role in delivering this complex and highly coordinated project and to help restore a vital connection for the residents of Bristol Township and surrounding communities.
