Mary D. Lang Kindergarten ADA Entrance Design

G&A partnered with long time clients Bernardon Architects to work with the Kennett Consolidated School District on a re-design of the Mary D. Lang Kindergarten building ADA entrance. The project had its genesis from a failing retaining wall in need of repair/replacement along with the existing non-ADA compliant accessible route.

G&A’s Land Surveying department gathered detailed existing features information while the Geotechnical group investigated the design of a cast in place concrete wall to replace the failing wall and the walls associated with the new ADA ramp. During the design process, several complex design issues were encountered relating to the incorporation of the new ADA compliant ramp into existing conditions. 3D models of the ramp area using Sketchup were created for real time manipulation of the model, design implications of different options were effectively conveyed to the owner and architect virtually.
