Wood Bridge Road Bridge Rehabilitation

G&A was challenged to rehabilitate the existing deteriorated pipe arch bridge without closing Wood Bridge Road, a two lane road with no outlet located in a residential community.  G&A developed plans to retain most of the existing structure and slip-line the existing bridge with a smooth-lined steel pipe-arch while allowing access to the neighborhood at all times during construction.

G&A prepared the design plans and specifications, and provided all environmental permitting services, including traffic control and construction staging plans, Erosion & Sediment Control Plans, bid documents, bid phase services, construction consultation, construction administration, local and state permitting, and inspections services.  Design of the rehabilitation included:  hydrologic & hydraulic analysis, construction of reinforced concrete apron slabs and cutoff walls, installation of scour countermeasures along with permanent erosion & sediment control features in an attempt to correct existing and mitigate future stream scour at the bridge.
