Pennypack Trail Extension

G&A was part of the consultant team who prepared construction plans for the extension of the Pennypack Trail from its previous terminus at a parking area on Byberry Road. The continuation of the trail included a mid-block pedestrian crossing with pedestrian activated rapid flashing rectangular beacons (RFRB) and steel canopy structure beneath the active Norfolk Southern Rail line bridge that is elevated above the trail. The trail is constructed primarily on the former SEPTA rail line bed. G&A was tasked with performing the site survey necessary to develop the construction plans as well as the preparation of the Erosion and Sedimentation Control Plan. G&A’s structural engineers also conducted an evaluation of an existing culvert structure and provided suggestions for renovation and protection of the structure for trail use. The end of the Pennypack Trail at County Line Road marks the beginning of Bucks County’s Newtown Rail Trail.
