Since 2004 G&A has assisted Lower Gwynedd Township with GIS services.  GIS mapping development started early on by creating base parcel mapping from scanned tax sheets. Plans were scanned and overlaid onto orthophotography and hand digitized.  This base mapping has supported the Township’s property and permit management systems and is the foundation of other GIS mapping layers.  Although the Township has had three different property and permit management systems, our GIS layers have transitioned with the software to support their mapping components.

Over the years, the township has built an extensive GIS inventory of mapping layers including: completed sanitary sewer systems containing manholes, sewer mains, laterals, and linked as-built plans; storm sewer system mapping including storm sewer feature types, drainage flows, and watersheds used for stormwater management; impervious surface calculations for net percentages by property; FEMA Floodplain comparisons; Township wide recreational trail systems including park, bike, equestrian, sidewalk, public trails, and wildlife preserve.
