Cross County Trail Gap Feasibility Study

G&A and project partner Campbell Thomas & Co. prepared a feasibility study of the Cross County Trail Gap at Germantown Pike and Chemical Road.  The project team was able to successfully provide a robust program of public engagement throughout the project. The study included a detailed site analysis in which site constraints were identified, including clearance height requirements from PennDOT, floodplain, topography, geology, utilities, property access, vegetation, and historic resources including historic lime kiln remnants and Livezey’s store.  A reconnaissance and geologic assessment was completed to further assess potential issues associated with carbonate geology and karst features. Based upon the findings of these studies, sketches, cross-sections, and a video simulation of potential bridge alignments were all prepared and presented to the stakeholders and public for review and comment.  The study concluded that it is feasible to construct a bridge spanning Germantown Pike to extend the Cross County Trail.
