Columbus Square Park Renovations

G&A was competitively selected for the design of major renovations to Columbus Square, a 4-acre park located in the Passyunk Square neighborhood of South Philadelphia.  The existing park included a recreation center, playgrounds, an outdated sprayground, a gravel dog run, walkways in disrepair, and worn and poorly drained athletic fields.  The new design improved pedestrian circulation throughout the park, new dog run with synthetic turf and water facilities, sprayground, plazas and pedestrian gathering spaces, improved drainage at the existing recreation center, regraded baseball field with proper drainage, soccer field, picnic lawn, increased seating throughout, pedestrian scale energy efficient lighting, and landscaping.  G&A led the public engagement process including meetings with City Officials, community and neighborhood groups, and the Philadelphia Art Commission.  G&A also oversaw the permitting process particularly in regards to stormwater management.
