Tohickon Middle School Entrance Renovation

An inviting new entry courtyard welcomed students, faculty, and visitors to Tohickon Middle School for the 2019-2020 school year.  The worn expanse of concrete that previously occupied this space was removed and replaced with green lawn, gently curving walkways, low maintenance landscape plantings, and improved lighting.  The design was developed by working with school district administrators and staff who’s goals were to provide a welcoming, safe, and accessible space.  The new entrance design reduced the amount of impervious cover, while accommodating pedestrian circulation and incorporating elements of Crime Prevention Through Environmental Design (CPTED).  Improved sight lines, access control measures, and space for outdoor learning and socialization are incorporated into this vibrant new space.
