The playground at Philadelphia’s Finley Recreation Center provides a vibrant, active space for the neighborhood. The new playground includes separate play areas for two to five year olds and five to twelve year olds, a large splash pad, seating, landscaping, and improved building entrance plaza. Use of low-flow water features within the splash pad reduced the amount of water being used by about 50% over traditional features. Recycled rubber material within playground’s poured-in-place safety surfacing was used. Landscape areas and plant material within and adjacent to the playground, serve as an aesthetic purpose while functioning as Stormwater Management Practices.
