Working with Arcadia University, Delran Construction, and GLP Architects, G&A provided survey, geotechnical, and civil engineering services for an addition to the Kuch Center, the university’s central commons and indoor athletic facility. The 3-story building addition required reconfigured ADA access and is supported on a helical pier foundation system that bypasses loose existing fill materials. The civil design included expedited coordination and recommendations with respect to site design considerations including project cost, safety, function, and aesthetics. G&A also prepared retaining wall construction drawings to support improvements on an existing slope.

G&A provided land design and landscape architecture services for the Kaname Parcel, that is located at the northern portion of the campus.  The improvement plan involved demolishing an existing greenhouse and constructing two new, separate facilities: a greenhouse and a maintenance/storage facility. The site also includes an existing single family residence that serves as a short-term residence for visiting faculty.  G&A provided design services for ADA accessible routes to the site, and improved drainage design. The university also requested that G&A landscape architects create an enhanced landscaping plan to provide a more attractive setting for this section of the campus.

G&A provided multi-disciplinary engineering services for a new maintenance facility and associated improvements.  G&A assisted with land acquisition to support the expansion required to accommodate the new features.  Working closely with the Architect and University, G&A developed an optimal site layout and improved function for personnel and equipment.  A significant project component involved a new culvert spanning a tributary of the Tookany Creek, historically separating the area from the remaining campus.   An existing pipe conveyance limited vehicular access and created a bottleneck in the stream, with associated backwater flooding.

G&A performed a hydraulic analysis and developed streambank restoration plans for wider access to the maintenance area, eliminating flooding and establishing riparian protections.    Stormwater management features include a rain garden, underground detention bed, and green roof.  The design, construction, and green infrastructure practices demonstrate Arcadia University’s commitment to environment and place for staff and students alike.

G&A provided survey and geotechnical services in support of the Blankley Softball Field at Arcadia University Campus.  In order to stay current with NCAA requirements a softball field expansion was necessary.  To accommodate the increased field dimensions G&A prepared grading and retaining wall construction plans.  The wall alignment was configured to maximize gains in usable field space while minimizing disturbance and construction costs.
