Wissahickon Creek Stream Restoration and Enhancement

Cedarbrook Country Club, in cooperation with Whitpain Township and Wissahickon Valley Watershed Association, is leading the charge to restore the Wissahickon Creek through their property.  A Master Plan was developed for Cedarbrook Country Club using GIS and LIDAR topography to map improvements for various areas of the riparian corridor, including two irrigation ponds and one tributary to the Creek.  The Master Plan was broken up into multiple stages in order to minimize the stream impact at any single time and per Grant Limitations.  Phase 1 of the Project received grant funding through the DCED Flood Mitigation Program in 2016 and proceeded to design, permitting, and construction of the first three areas of work.  The project represented many challenges since the work was to take place throughout the golf course during the prime playing season.  Through coordination with the Superintendent of Grounds, the Contractor was able to complete the project without impact to the membership.  Even receiving compliments from many members for their performance on the project.  As of January 2020, work on Phase 1 was completed.

In addition to design and permitting, Gilmore & Associates, Inc. maintained our involvement with construction services throughout Phase 1 of the Project.  Work has already begun to update the Master Plan and prepare new Grant Applications with Triad Associates for the next Phase of Work.  To be incorporated into the next phase, Cedarbrook Country Club has engaged a golf course designer to work in concert with the Design Team for a course that makes the stream improvements an asset to the game.
