G&A Receives Innovative Transportation Solution Award

A remarkable evening, celebrating and recognizing colleagues and teaming partners.  G&A was honored to receive the Innovative Transportation Solution Award for the American Street Improvement Project from WTS Philadelphia.  The project, led by G&A, along with JMT, KMJ Consulting, Inc. and Malick & Scherer, P.C and in collaboration with the Philadelphia Department of Streets, Water, Planning, and Commerce and Office of Transportation & Infrastructure Systems met the aggressive 14-month timeframe to design, engineer, and deliver the project for bidding and construction.

G&A serves as the prime technical consultant for the City of Philadelphia’s redevelopment of a 2.2 mile long road corridor.  Fueled by a federally funded TIGER grant, retrofitting the roadway to incorporate Green Stormwater Infrastructure (GSI) is an essential component of the streetscape redevelopment plan and integrates the City’s Green City, Clean Waters initiative.  In addition the project advances the City’s vision for “Complete Streets” with multi-modal transportation accessibility and incorporates pedestrian safety in line with Vision Zero.  The streetscape will help revitalize this historically industrial corridor planning for mixed-use redevelopment, adding multi-modal transit opportunities and enhancing pedestrian safety, while creating up to 46 “Greened Acres” of runoff diverted from the City’s combined sewer system. In  addition to  serving  as  overall  project manager,  G&A  lead  a  significant public  engagement  effort,  as well as  designed  GSI,  streetscape and landscape improvements, and new public spaces, and provided multi-phased environmental and geotechnical studies within the corridor, including infiltration testing in support of GSI design.
