G&A hosts Summer Blood Drive for Miller-Keystone Blood Center

Summer is the WORST time for blood centers across the United States. Schools are out, people are on vacation, summer sports – all pulling donors away from their normal routines. Yet car accidents, surgeries, illness – they don’t take vacations. In fact, blood usage increases significantly during the summer months.

Thank you to our employees for participating in the Miller-Keystone blood drive on July 15th!  33 successful whole blood pints were collected, and this translates to 33+ lives saved!  We look forward to hosting another Miller-Keystone Blood Center (MKBC) blood drive soon.

G&A’s blood drive donations go directly to one of the 26 hospitals that Miller-Keystone Blood Center solely supports. MKBC is a not-for-profit, 501 (c) (3) community organization that serves as the only blood provider to 26 hospitals in Berks, Bucks, Carbon, Chester, Lehigh, Luzerne, Montgomery, Northampton, Philadelphia, and Schuylkill (PA), and Hunterdon and Warren (NJ) counties; only blood donated through MKBC is transfused at these facilities.

  • Every 2 seconds, someone in the United States requires a blood transfusion.
  • The gift of blood is the gift of life. There is no substitute for human blood.
  • 8 million Americans would die each year without life saving blood transfusions.
  • One out of every 7 people entering a hospital needs blood.
