Adaire Schoolyard Groundbreaking

Under our Green Stormwater Infrastructure (GSI) Design contract with Philadelphia Water (PW), G&A lead a multi-disciplinary design team in greening the Adaire Elementary School in the Fishtown area of Philadelphia.  The plan included upgrading the current school yard to a playground, and converting a portion of paved parking lot into a rain garden with walk-through stepping stones and porous stone seating wall border.  Under the GSI contract, G&A provided survey, geotechnical investigation, and civil engineering services for the project.  G&A has designed GSI infrastructure to include a rain garden at the parking lot, and is currently engaged by the Trust for Public Land to provide Construction Administration Support Services for the Adaire School GSI Improvements.

On Tuesday February 21st G&A Project Managers, Ronald G. Monkres II, P.E. and Shiny Mathew, P.E. attended the ground breaking ceremony.  City officials, Mayor Kenney, Managing Director Michael DiBerardinis, and Council President Clark, and Superintendent Hite, were also in attendance and spoke of the collaboration efforts by the various organizations, from city operated agencies, PW, to non-profits, Trust for Public Land (TPL), and the continued support from the community (Friends of Adaire) that made this project a reality.

G&A was proud to be part of this successful project team!

The press, ABC, CBS, and WHYY, were present as well.  CBS article
