This hydrogeologic Impact Study was performed in conjunction with civil engineering services for development of 81 acres and preservation of an additional 160 acres.
The Rapuano Tract subdivision consisted of a total of twenty-two (22) parcels, served with individual water supply wells. The hydrogeologic study included the televideoing of three (3) existing onsite wells. A 48-hour pumping test was completed, groundwater samples were collected for laboratory analysis of drinking water parameters, and a hydrogeologic report was prepared in accordance with Upper Makefield Township Ordinance.
Based on observations during the well drilling and the pumping test, individual wells were expected to meet the peak water demands at the twenty-two (22) homes in the proposed subdivision. The estimated groundwater recharge to the area was found to far exceed the water demands for the proposed subdivision. Water quality sample results for the pumped well indicated that groundwater met drinking water standards except for total coliform and hardness. Nitrogen-loading calculations were performed, which indicated that onsite septic disposal will not impact nitrate standards in drinking water.
