Gilmore & Associates, Inc. was engaged to assist the Pennsbury School District with design and construction of roadway improvements to an existing internal road. This roadway, which supports significant school bus traffic, had rapidly deteriorated since it was originally constructed four years prior. Gilmore & Associates, Inc. conducted a pavement investigation, which included a delineation of the existing distress, and a coring program to confirm the existing pavement thicknesses, and to evaluate the subgrade conditions. It was determined that re-grading the pavement surface and providing additional drainage would be required to extend the life of the new pavements.

Gilmore & Associates, Inc. developed plans and specifications for the required roadway improvements, including estimated quantities of crack sealing, subgrade undercutting, and full-depth repair. Gilmore & Associates, Inc. then assisted the Pennsbury School District with the bidding process and contract administration. Finally, Gilmore & Associates, Inc. was onsite during construction of the drainage and pavement improvements to document construction, and to verify compliance with the design drawings. This project is an excellent example of how Gilmore & Associates, Inc. can combine several services to benefit our client. In this case, the Geotechnical, Survey, Land Design, and Construction Observation departments worked together to develop a quality finished product.
