The overall project was designed to stabilize stream banks, which were eroding and beginning to threaten the property and improvements of the adjoining property owners.

Banks of the stream were cut back to a 3:1 slope, which also served to increase the channel capacity for high storm flows. They were then seeded, mulched, and covered with jute netting to hold these measures in place. The toe of the slope was protected using a coconut fiber roll. Native shrub species with erosion resistant root structures were then planted. All measures used will biodegrade over time, leaving this as a naturally vegetated stream. This project was funded by a grant from the Pennsylvania Growing Greener fund.
