The King Road Wastewater Treatment Plant, located in Limerick Township, Montgomery County, PA became fully operational in late January 2007. Engineering, design, and construction
of the treatment plant expansion and upgrade, which can process 1.7 million gallons of sewage per day, was managed by Gilmore & Associates, Inc. for the Limerick Township Municipal
Authority.
Work for this $9.4 million (total construction cost) project was performed by four departments in two Gilmore & Associates, Inc. offices. In addition to Water / Wastewater,
the Geotechnical Department provided soil borings, the Survey Department provided as-built information for design and stake-out for all construction activity, and the Construction
Observation Department monitored construction activities, which started in October 2005.
Some notable aspects of the project include using the same technology at King Road as was used at the Possum Hollow Wastewater Treatment Plant (also designed by G&A for LTMA),
which allows for better ease of use by the Municipal Authority operators. Additionally, the principal treatment tank is all pre-cast concrete that was delivered and then assembled
on site. The project is expected to be completely finished during the summer of 2007.
