The Bucks County Audubon Society Environmental Action Award for its conservation planning and low impact design of the Rapuano Tract. The Heritage Conservancy and Upper Makefield Township partnered in the preservation of over 176 acres of prime farmland on this highly visible property. The remaining 85 acres of the site are being developed in accordance with conservation planning and low impact design techniques that complement the preservation of the balance of the property. Innovative stormwater best management practices (B.M.P.’s) are designed to replicate the site’s pre-development hydrology, while the conservation planning approach seeks to preserve the site’s unique conservation values.
